2024.10.02

Designed by Jaque Studio, the design story of Ennea Hotel began with crafting a tranquil oasis that seamlessly blends with its surroundings. The hotel is characterized by the use of natural materials such as stone, wood, and rustic elements, spread throughout three distinct volumes, each strategically positioned to optimize views and enhance natural ventilation.

- A Sanctuary in the Wood

The first volume serves as the entrance and reception area, designed as a welcoming sanctuary, Featuring double-height spaces, bridges, and staircases, it acts as a transition zone from the bustling street to the serene gardens, restaurant, and guest rooms.

The second volume houses a grand palapa restaurant. it is supported by stones and exposed concrete columns, offering panoramic views of the central garden, pool area, nature reserve, and the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. whilst essential service and administrative areas are located below the restaurant.

The third volume is a rectangular building with an open ground floor and two upper levels for guest rooms, made from reinforced concrete. The design provides shade and natural cooling, with the ground floor connecting smoothly to the garden and pool area, offering relief from the midday heat without heavy use of air conditioning. Positioned next to the nature reserve and facing the coast, each room has clear views of the bay and surroundings.

- Crafting a Sense of Place

The rooms are designed to offer a sanctuary of calm that connects directly to Mother Nature. nestled within the tree canopy, each room is enveloped with warm-organic materials such as stone and wood, and textured details including woven lamps.

For Jaque Studio, the main design focus at Ennea is its connection to nature. The architecture integrates expansive gardens that connect "tree house" style rooms, a bar area, a massage pavilion, and the main pool. The material choices highlight local textures and colors, using exposed finishes, native woods, stones, and traditional fabrics throughout, from public walkways to private guest rooms, creating an open, airy environment that keeps nature ever-present.

Rustic textures blend with modern elements, such as in the bathrooms where exposed stone bathtubs are set beneath slatted wooden walls, combining the raw, organic feel of stone with the warmth of wood. Open-air spaces, like the lounge with its stone furniture and soft textiles, perfectly capture the hotel’s philosophy of creating a calming atmosphere.

- Sustainable at Heart

The hotel reduces energy use by taking advantage of natural light and ventilation. Native materials are chosen not only for their beauty but also for their low environmental impact. While the design has modern elements, the use of local materials like stone and wood, along with handcrafted woven lamps, adds warmth and character. The organic textures make the hotel feel luxurious and closely tied to its surroundings.

Raw stone walls, exposed concrete columns, and natural wood finishes in the reception area and guest rooms create a tactile experience that celebrates the local environment, ensuring each space feels thoughtfully connected to the local culture and craftsmanship.

as an oasis amidst the vibrant coastal city of Puerto Escondido, ennea hotel offering guests a retreat that harmonizes with rich natural landscapes. the hotel pictures an immersive experience in the best of contemporary tropical design, through organic materials, sustainable practices, and a strong connection to nature, it Instills Tranquility and Organic Beauty through Eco-Conscious Design, offering more than just a place to stay.
