B2 architecture splashed color into DDB, thee creative agency’s office in prague, by creating an anamorphic optical illusion. Visitors and employees are welcomed by the company’s striking massive logo, painted light blue and white against a black lobby. Standing from the specific vantage point, viewers see the filled in ‘B’ in its perfect form. however, when moving forward to enter the space, the logo colors the interior offices completely and viewers realize the illusion was formed by color applied throughout the whole space.
The architects used the illusion of a distorted projection, or anamorphosis, to achieve the desired effect. When entering into the now brightly-colored space, visitors first encounter the stool wall. The vertical surface is both decorative and functional, making the company’s colorful logos transform into cushioned stools when removed from the wall. For spontaneous chats or planned meetings, employees can easily pull out a stool and have a seat.
In the center of the black, white and light blue open plan, lies a semi-circular yellow war room. The bold space houses an amphitheater, a place to brainstorm and birth innovative ideas. Its glass partitions can be used for writing down thoughts and at the same time, the room can provide some privacy or darkness for screenings by closing the curtains. The room also serves as a more enclosed collaboration space, an alternative option to the otherwise open offices.
The colorful spaces foster a vivid environment that reflects the agency’s creative character. A cafeteria and lounge area are also integrated into the space. With variable seating arrangements, they can also be used for training, talks and internal workshops, while also serving as an internal meeting point for staff interaction.
