Snuper Design Creates a Dream Lab Office in Taipei, Taiwan
2018.10.16
The site locates in the space of Song Shan Cultural Park. The plan of Taipei New Horizon Building has a playful form to respond to the context of the old, memorable Taipei; therefore, the dividing indoor elements also correspond to the cutting lines of the environment. Walking along with the curvy windows, the users navigate through the lights and shadows in the space, and form a playful scene at background of the urban view. In this project, Snuper Design simulated the functions of a home, to redefine the areas in the working space as the living room, the sitting room, the open kitchen and the recreation area (café) in a home, and thus seek to add new imagination to the working units. The project targets the lifestyle of Taiwan's new generation startups, who enjoy the happiness and work efficiency in the same time.
The entire space was divided into three major structures. Among different departments, the boundaries of these “brainstorming boxes” have interesting boundaries with the working space. Snuper design pursued a space without any solid walls and try to deconstruct the feeling of the gigantic structure of the empty conference room. Therefore, they used several ways to break down the boundaries between meeting rooms and other spaces. Moreover, they transformed these meeting rooms into versatile usages.
Visually, Snuper design wants to create a space that has no barriers, but at the same time the designers want every space has its boundaries and not affect each other’s functions. To create bounder lines without using concrete walls, they chose to use the lines of the celling and floors to invent invisible lines. Additionally, they also used a lot of materials such as steel and grey glass to establish lines and invisible walls between spots. In this way, every location has distances in between but at the same time shares the open area.
Nowadays, new startups seek for a working place with highly working efficiency and living happiness together, meanwhile reach the eco via green issues to reach their ideal imaginations. To make the working space cozy like a home, Snuper Design decided to input home functions such as living room, reading space and café in between different working space, so that they can create the balance between movement and sedentary, hence create a cozy atmosphere. Moreover, they design customized working units such as floating box for storage and Y shape desk for teah work to fulfill their needs. Snuper Design hopes that through combine the relief of home and the efficiency of the work altogether, they can rebuild a new working space for Dream Lab.
