Olaf Barski (born 1956) completed his studies in design at the University of Fine Arts (Hochschule für bildende Künste) in Hamburg, majoring in Industrial Design with Prof. Peter Raacke in 1986. Before he opened his own office in Frankfurt am Main in 1991, he worked as a product designer at Airbus Industries, Rowenta and Philips.
Barski Design is an interdisciplinary, award-winning design office, located in Frankfurt Main, Germany. Owner-managed, innovative and straightforward.
For over 25 years now, Barski Design has been delivering innovative design solutions in the fields of consumer goods, especially home appliances, medical and health care, consumer electronics, sanitary, transportation as well as packaging and street furniture.

Besides his commitment as a design jury member and as a guest lecturer at several universities of design, Olaf Barski is a speaker at international design conferences like Business of Design Week, Hong Kong, and BDCI, Shenzhen and an active member of the German Design Council, DDC (German Designer Club), aed (Architecture, Engineering, Design) and iF (International Forum Design).

Baking experts have a handle on everything.
A complete product line in professional quality. The exclusive series of baking accessories stands out for its combination of stainless steel and high-quality silicon. The finely tuned grip geometries, the proportions and details ensure ergonomic handling and give the 14-part series a harmonious, sophisticated overall appearance. The trick: Only a stainless steel handle for all 14 parts of the line.

03. "HD 320". Impulse sealing device for hawo.
The highest form of hygiene.
The impulse sealing device Hawo HD 320 MS-8 is the first device of the "New Generation" line, for which a new, innovative and overarching design language was developed. It accomplishes the manual sealing of foils and foil packaging in medical practices and laboratories. As a result of its clear, easy-to-handle structure, the device is accurate in function and offers a high degree of user comfort. The soft, smooth surfaces are easy to clean, and are made for medical hygiene and safety. The sophisticated combination of the materials, as well as the high tech electronic gives the device an aesthetical and professional appearance.

04. "Polaris 7xx". Operation luminaire for Draeger Medical
The ray of light in the operating theater.
Particularly flat surgical light with 54 duo-reflectors. The innovative combination of optics and light gives users decisive advantages such as shadow control, color fidelity, and deep lighting. Innovation: Due to the recessed grips placed at the back, 2 surgical lights can be positioned particularly close together.

05. "onno®". E-Bike concept study for Rehau
Ultralight into the future.
Onno®, the E-bike of the future has a modular, intelligent battery system for different distances, a smart lighting system with light booster, large rear lights, brake lights and turn signals. A lightweight, ultra-slim case is suited for a laptop in the morning and for the shopping in the evening. The command and control of the technology (tire pressure, etc.) and the cyclist (cardio, circulation) is done via smartphone integrated in the panel. Chassis of ultralight construction with innovative material combinations. -
06. C-Leg Packaging for ottobock.

Development of an unique design language for the future packaging of the new micro processor-driven prosthetic leg systems taking brand-aesthetic, functional and emotional aspects into account. The self-explanatory, high-quality modular system ensures a sensitive dealing of this topic. -
07. User Interface for blood pressure measurement.
My heart goes boom boom boom.
Design of a user interface for non-invasive, continuous and stress-free blood pressure measurement. The app is compatible with various systems and saves the readings taken on the chest, upper arm, wrist, or finger. The user interface is characterized by clear structuring and easy visibility of the readings saved, for example heart rate and blood pressure. Together with the physician, users can store names of medication so that they are regularly reminded to take it. The well-conceived look and feel aid efficient and intuitive use of the program. -
08. "Pure". Waste bin family for Hailo
Collects waste and compliments.
Hailo Pure is a waste bin family which is available in different sizes and showcases a puristic design language. Featuring clean lines and well-balanced proportions, it harmoniously blends in with any kind of interior. The round body in combination with the slightly curved lid conveys a timeless appearance. Soft Close, a cushioned closing mechanism, ensures that the lid closes silently. A garbage bag clamping ring system, which is totally invisible from the outside, safely keeps the garbage bag in place. Statement by the jury: »Hailo Pure successfully realises a contemporary reinterpretation of a classic waste bin in a formally and functionally sophisticated way.«
