Sheng-Hung Lee is a designer, maker and educator. He is inspired by multiple domains of knowledge, different perspectives, and he thrives on creating new value for clients in multi-disciplinary teams. He is trained as an industrial designer and electrical engineer, and his approach to problem solving is influenced by his passion for how design and technology impact on and can be integrated into society. He has collaborated with IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) to inform their strategy, service and user experience for the Asia market, this work was recently been published in the book <IDSA Blueprint in Asia>. Sheng-Hung has been focusing on organization design that creates systemic impact.
He was invited to be a jury for multiple international design competition including IDEA, Spark Design Award, IDA Award and A’ Design Award and Competition. He also worked as a researcher at the National Science Council in Taiwan and is a member of respected institutions such as Taiwan Society of Technology and Sociology, Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society, and China Technical Consultants Inc.
Sheng-Hung graduated with a double Bachelor’s degree (Hon.) in Industrial Design and Electrical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. His work has won prestigious awards including IDEA Gold, Braun Prize, Core77 Design Award, Red Dot (Best of the Best), Spark Design Award, European Product Design Award (Gold) and iF Award. In his spare time, Sheng-Hung teaches product design at Fudan University Shanghai Institute of Visual Art and Detao Masters Academy.

TetraPOT - Green Sea Defence Design
TetraPOT is a sea defence sustainable. Randomly distributed TetraPOTs along coastlines will eventually interlock to create a long-lasting sea defence of growing trees and roots that help keep the blocks in place. As plants grow inside out from TetraPOT, the roots will intertwine and gradually become a natural sea defence. The shape and placement will enable TetraPOTs to interlock with each other and form a structured web. The design not only prevents soil erosion, but also helps to protect and create a natural habitat.

Toilet Paper Roll Redesign
People are prone to put toilet paper on table without putting it in toilet roll holder. The dust, water or oil stain would easily attach to bottom surface of paper. Therefore we redesign toilet paper roll, as slogan goes: Turn paper roll upside down, make dust go away! Toilet paper roll is the best holder. After toilet paper is used up, compressible structure design makes users press down on toilet paper roll without effort and reduce waste size. The design draws the public attention to care about the hygiene issue.

IDEO Maker Space Signage Design
This is the signage design for IDEO Maker Space at Shanghai office. The design concept is to draw and combine some tool icons e.g. screw, saw, screwdriver, paint brush, pencil etc. with the existing IDEO logo design to create an iconic image that represents maker spirit and get people excited about designing, inventing and making stuffs by themselves.

FANs Cam
Designed to clip on to the collar of athletes, FANs Cam is a free-angle camera that provides spectators with a live video feed of an athlete in action. In addition to fan enjoyment, the video functions as a performance recorder for self-assessing athletes and coaches. It is lightweight and comfortable and can fit on any collar.

Photo Talk
We let photo “talks”!? It is a combination of the square code (VRS) printed on the back of photos and a scanner with speakers on both sides. User can select the special music, voice or picture and print the voice code at the back, called “Voice-Respond Code” (VRS). Try to imagine, the “photo” is alive.

Fire Formula
With “FireFormula” users can choose the ingredient (H2O or CO2) to extinguish the fire by turning the handle to proper side while user is faced with different situations. The adequate size makes it portable to take with along the escape route. It is equipped with the function of ingredient replacement, which is environmental friendly and sustainable. With “FireFormula” extinguisher, we can find our own formula to stay alive!

Green Lunch Box
The “Green Lunch Box” design is not only to avoid using the traditional non-reusable chopsticks and no more rubber bands but also the material of lunch box itself consists of paper. The design extends the functions from original lunch box like the press line layout of spoons on the top of the paper cover and chopsticks on both sides. Also its new structure can fix the paper cover of lunch box as if were new type of paper rubber bands.

Vmo
Vmo is a new type of memo sticker with a special function of recording the sound, voice, speech and music through your smart phone. Just imaging your lecture notes, postcards and family photos can be kept in not only visual pictures but also vocal memories on a single piece of sticker in such a remarkable way. As our slogan states “Simply scan the code; briefly reach the info.”
