Gloria Manor - Kenting Boutique Hotel
WELCOME LOBBY
The hotel is located at Kenting in the most southern part of Taiwan. The property was previously used as a retreat by Chiang Kai-Shek in the late 60's. With the rich history of the property, our client hoped to achieve two purposes: heritage and sustainability. To this end, the important design elements were:
Redefine modern Taiwanese aesthetic and present the unique culture of Taiwan.
First, we need to rediscover the roots of Taiwan culture through utilizing material that is native to Taiwan. We incorporated the traditional hand woven bamboo crafts into the modern design. These handcrafted bamboo objects were created by local craftsman using traditional techniques. The traditional Taiwanese architecture elements are transformed with a modern interpretation.
Incorporate nature and present the property in an environmental friendly manner. -

WELCOME LOUNGE
Before sunset unobstructed views from Tachien Mountain to the distant South China Sea from inside of the room were carefully managed for the lobby lounge.
Stone is randomly and obliquely cut to transform the image of bamboo joints.
Lanterns dance around to create spotted lights and form intimate space. Hexagon and triangle lines are hidden in the space to redefine modern Taiwanese aesthetic. -

MU RESTAURANT
MU restaurant is adjacent to the lobby. The restaurant serves the freshest ingredients from the chef’s Kenting farms. Rich local delicacies are presented in western style.
The restaurant is given two different tones between day and night by manipulating lighting and movable screens. During day time, the spectacular and picturesque Tachien Mountain views can be viewed clearly through the restaurant with fully opened windows.
Fossil wood stone, translucent fabric screens, and thin line wood panels are used to give a mystic wonderment when night falls. Screens reflect light and define the privacy of the dinning space simultaneously. -

Located at the heart of the vibrant Yilan Jiaoxi city, a renowned hot spring destinations in northeast Taiwan, Wellspring by Silks is FIH Regent Group’s first established boutique hot spring resort.
Situated at the center of Jiaoxi city, Wellspring by Silks is walled by earthy toned grillages and serves as a hidden wonderland for travelers seeking for convenient city escape. Filled with tranquil and soothing atmosphere, the hotel is a serene piece of heaven tucked in the bustling touristy. At the resort entrance, visitors are immediately welcomed by the giant handcrafted lantern made with Komalan banana fiber. The ingenious winding circular design allows guests to enjoy all the facilities with privacy, while each resort corner displays the visual of the most beautiful sights of the space. The outdoor scenery is decorated with a mirror pool and a tiered terrace that are morphed with the indoor atmosphere. Every season and every month, the guests will be able to see the natural beauty of the seasonal changes in Yilan. -

The lobby space is enclosed by the tapering grillages which provide different degree of penetration at every angel. During the day, the adjacent artificial buildings are shielded and the green plants and trees with the limbs and leaves are extending into the resort building. During the night, the grillages, highlighted by upward shining lights, make the entire lobby space appears as a giant lantern; peacefully and quietly leads the way home for travelers. The variation of lights and shadows between day and night creates different scenery for every single moment. -

RESTAURANT
As an extension of Mihan Honke, which located at the B3 of Regent Taipei, Mihan Jiaoxi is a contemporary Japanese hot pot restaurant that serves authentic Japanese delicacies inspired by Michelin-starred guest chefs.
Continuing the concept derived from handcrafted Komalan banana fiber woven lantern, semi-permeable wood frame and layering screen design are used to create depth of field. With hot pot mist all around the screens, an exclusive and exceptional Japanese dining experience begins.
