  The rebirth of an old house - Mao Fun

  【Old house, New spirit】
  Tainan, Taiwan-the place with profound cultural heritage.
  It's easy to see the previous peerless glory in any unknown lane of Tainan.
  This house is located on Futang street and closed to the Ying-Chun Gate built in Ming Zheng Dynasty.
  Old house vaguely exudes its extraordinary splendor.
  The original building is a duplex two-story building which is abandoned for a long time.
  It is converted into a commercial space but keep its original spirit.
  The appearance of mottled wash pebble surface is restored.
  Bronze outer tubes and blackened wooden frame naturally integrate into the appearance without conflict.
  Several design concepts are combined with its own traditional window grilles, wooden truss of the roof, cement sheet, brick wall and staircase to reflect the new value of old house.
  Quaint terrazzo floor mixed with Spanish tiles.
  Aged staircase is decorated by Morocco colored frosted glass lighting.
  The lamps are like stars glittered in the sky. The renovation strikes the perfect balance between old and new.

  【The time, The memory】
  Brass is used as the design element to activate the chemical reaction of old house
  As time goes by, many memories and images appear.
  Different sizes of the copper spoons hang on the mottled wall of the entrance.
  These spoons and antiquated furniture build a warm and reunited atmosphere.
  It is not only a renovated old house, it is “HOME”.
  Welcome home!!
  
  【The blooming flowers, The shade of a willow】
  The entrance path is located in the concealed lane of the side of house.
  With the arrangement of moving line, a different visual view will be seen after walking some paces or a turn.
  The original large open window greets sunlight into the room in the day time and embraces the moonlight in the night.
  A light through from patio, a few pots of succulent plants and the boiling hot pot full of food are the best healing from the old house.

  【Tainan】
  A slow moving city
  The streets are always full of surprise
  A house with middle age crisis
  There are neither ancient relics nor historical story
  There are only ordinary plant and warehouse
  There left signs of age accumulated in fifty or sixty years
  Wait for a chance to start all over again.
  
  【Keep and position】
  Redefine the application pattern of the door
  The dismantled wall makes the building look much brighter
  The wooden door and doorplate were kept
  The imprint of the ink left from the old plant is vaguely visible
  The sign of age is still there but with new style.

  Enjoy the meal together at the same table and savor the story told by the space.

  XiaoFangZhou - Japanese style izakaya

  When night is falling, the izakaya is bustling with activity.
  The table spreads with delicacies.
  Friends drink and chat pleasantly. People toast with cheer and boisterousness.
  Relax and casual atmosphere filled the entire space.
  
  The appearance of the restaurant is decorated by flag of Japan, Hi no maru.
  A crimson-red disc hanged in the center embodies the circle of the rising sun
  The sign, which is rusted deliberately and projected by light, bring the restaurant warmth.
  Black smoked wooden board of hidden electricity meter box is not made of Bincho-charcoal used in the restaurant.
  It is burning mark from previous accidental fire of the izakaya and placed as the memorial.
  
  Extended kitchen solved the insufficient space problem from original structure and provides the more complete and comfortable working area.
  Grilled station is installed near the pavement and face to customers.
  Chef’s skill and gravy meat are whetted foodie’s appetite.

  XiaoFangZhou - Japanese style izakaya

  Setting in the bar is the best choice for Japanese food.
  Customers could interact closely with chefs and watch the whole cooking process.
  Bar table is made of wood and shows the natural texture.
  Steel reinforced the structure of roof. It looks like the dark dome and envelopes the floor.
  Light gray wall extends the visual of interior space.
  Wood wool cement boards create a separate space for a counter.
  
  The blowing glass lamp shed a dim light.
  The crowd gradually gathers in the izakaya.
  People are tipsy because of sake.
  It becomes more hilarious in the night.

  Serious Poke - Blue ocean in the old street

  Time not only left traces but also left the stories on the building.
  Because of different historical background, old streets in Tainan are with different charm.
  This house is located on You’ai Street.
  Strolling along the street, buildings of different ages are adjacent to each other.
  Various cultures encounter in the same street and form unique arcade style.
  
  Explore the old street and enjoy the relaxation.
  Ancient and modern are fusion in “Serious Poke”, the first Hawaiian Poke sliced raw fish rice in Taiwan.
  
  The appearance is decorated with blue and white mosaic tiles and expresses a story about ocean.
  The huge LOGO which consist of mosaic tiles are on the pavement of arcaded.
  American-style big round mirror with circular lamp is embedded in the ceiling.
  It is like being surrounded by the ocean when standing in the arcaded.
  The original iron grilles are preserved and re-painting. It reappeared the classic look of the old house.

  Serious Poke - Blue ocean in the old street

  Fresh Poke raw fish rice delivers a taste of Hawaii.
  Open kitchen provide a clear view of cuisine preparing process.
  Diverse food is offered to customers.
  White subway tiles wall shows the simplicity style.
  The dining area decorated with blue and white vintage tiles creates a marine atmosphere.
  Resorted old furniture becomes dinning storage cabinet.
  The dining table is made of coke stone porcelain and embellished with green plants.
  Spanish hexagonal white tiles in the bathroom exude a comfortable and unrestrained air.
  “Serious Poke” creates the blue ocean in the old street
