Camellia blooms in the cultural soil as a spiritual symbol of elegance and independence. The artist Florence makes it immortal. Seeing camellia is like seeing Florence expressing care for the world and people with the delicate qualities of women, so it was named Painted Hope Art.

Taiwanese cross-border artist FangChun Lo has visited Taitung in eastern Taiwan several times, and was deeply fascinated by same color of the sea and sky. The " Sugar apple Blessing " sketch is a creation inspired by the stone found by FangChun Lo at "Taitung Seaside Park."

" Sugar apple" is a gift from the native land of Taitung. It has high nutritional value and Taitung is the world's largest producer. Its round and plump shape is like the joy of the Japanese "God of Fortune," and it also resembles the dignity of the Buddha. Later FangChun Lo created the second generation " Sugar apple Blessing Goldfish.” The beautiful goldfish elves are deeply imprinted with Chinese traditional culture. The ancient Chinese book "Shan Hai Jing" once recorded: "Jushui appears there, and flows southeast into the river. There are lots of fine cinnabar and colorful fish.” This shows that as early as the Warring States Period, there were colored goldfish in the north of the lake.

  • A New Blueprint of Evolution

    The transition from happiness to suffering is often in a flash. After going through conflicts between different dynasties and foreign cultures, Chinese culture quickly lags behind the fast-developing Western scientific and technological civilization due to the feudal rulers' disability and self-defense. In fact, everything in the universe has a lifespan, including the sun on which we humans depend, will one day die. Therefore, the Eastern and Western civilizations have experienced different cycles of rise and fall since ancient times. Transformed from a “small self ”into a "big self" to unfold a new blueprint for human evolution, to retrieve the natural essence of life, and the east and the west are no longer torn apart, only then can we unlock for the world another ability to transcend time and space for information and clues.

    As an artist, I quietly observe and record in my own way. This is the attitude I hold every time I face social issues. This work began with my compassion for the incident, and it was a creation that took me some painstaking efforts to research, chew, and transform on from the geography, the "Taroko" aboriginal culture, and the unknown dilemmas faced by people in this world.

    During the epidemic, the creation has insights into the contradictions and conflicts among nations and people. "Abandon the color, as the virus does not distinguish the color!" Let the barriers of time, races, and regions disappear before us. Under this shuttle to the future, no one is the outsider. To reshape the spectrum of the new century in the post-epidemic era, what should we humans live like?

    Today's world culture has a general trend of gradually merging into mainstream modern culture. However, in the process of cultural integration, there are still many contradictions, such as social values, religions, ethnic groups, or conflicts between mainstream culture and foreign culture. The colorful figure of "Thai fighting fish" that we are fascinated by seems to allude to endless desires in the human world, such as the identity, status, power, and etc. Under the elimination and replacement of time and space, there will be no real big winners forever, but in the process, every member of the earth often becomes the sacrifice of the rivalry in this game.

  • FangChun Lo

    Taiwan / Artist FangChun Lo’s art begins with culture, forms in products, uses in life, and becomes a brand, and explores the spiritual satisfaction of product use. This series of works has continually in this year participated in the The Luxembourg Art Prize held by Luxembourg Art Museum; Japanese art e-commerce platform TRiCERA and the Online Exhibion Is On The Way (ADP). "Sugarapple Blessing" has just passed Taiwan's two trademark qualifications in 2021, and the artist is currently creating picture books with Taitung as the background. She hopes this IP can break through the homogeneous development models among cities and plans to integrate tourism of the local product industry to release the vitality of the city. She also hopes the auspicious blessings of " Sugarapple Blessing" can give the world the positive energy to call for happiness.
